Introduction to NLP therapy
NLP therapy is an exciting form of psychotherapy which has evolved from NLP (Neuro Linguistic
Programming). It originated from modelling exemplars who were having great success with their
therapy. The originators (Bandler and Grinder) were curious as to exactly what they were doing.
The main focus is to understand and make sense of the clients world. From this understanding to
review aspects which are useful and are supporting the individual in their walk through life. Where
it is not useful to help to change this view to have a more useful one. Not necessarily getting rid of
them but perhaps only reserving them for situations where they are useful.
What happens
The style of working means there is not a set method of working. It will changed to suit the needs
of each individual person. There will normally be a considerable amount of talking as the causes
and processes are established.
Length for a session and how many
Normally they are just under an hour. However, if we are at an important stage and its
appropriate we may go over the time. We can also arrange to perhaps go to 2 hours if you would
find that useful.
The number of sessions each client is very individual and to your own personal needs.
Where
Normally we would work at the centre. However, if necessary we might work outside if for instance
you wanted to address paranoid feelings when out walking in the street. Alternatively, if you had
agoraphobia then we would arrange to visit you in your home and then enable you to expand
your accessible world.
The Cost
The first session is normally £60 and further sessions are £40. We are able to have some flexibility
in the pricing; we would rather help than for you not to experience the benefits of dealing with the
particular problems.
